History of Android

Android was launched in October 2003 by Andy Rubin, co-creator of Android Inc., and his colleagues Rich Miner, Nick Sears, and Chris White. At the time of its public founding, Rubin was quoted as saying that Android Inc was going to develop “smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner’s location and preferences”.

Google acquired Android

In 2005, Google acquired Android Inc. and Rubin became the Chief of Android OS development. Google found Android to be a new and interesting concept that can help them create a powerful and free OS.

Android was officially launched by Google in 2007 and Android OS development was announced.

First Android SmartPhone

HTC Dream was launched in the market in 2008. HTC dream was the first phone to run on Android OS.

    Since then, many versions of Android have been launched and it has received a good response from the youth. In a short period of time, Android reached the peak of its popularity. In 2013, Andy Rubin left Google for one of his projects. After Andy Rubin, Sundar Pichai was appointed Chief of Android.
